Baltic Amber Coast
  • The Lithuania-Poland-Russia European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 aims at promoting economic and social development on both sides of the EU-Russian border, addressing common challenges and problems and promoting people to people co-operation. Under the Programme, legal non-profit entities from the Lithuanian and Polish border regions and the entire Kaliningrad oblast implement joint projects co-financed by the EU.

  • The European Union is made up of 28 Member States who have decided to gradually link together their know-how, resources and destinies. Together, during a period of enlargement of 50 years, they have built a zone of stability, democracy and sustainable development whilst maintaining cultural diversity, tolerance and individual freedoms. The European Union is committed to sharing its achievements and its values with countries and peoples beyond its borders.

bgThe web page was created as part of the “Baltic Amber Coast. Development of crossborder area through building up and modernization of tourism infrastructure” project, co-financed by the European Union. The objective of the project is to facilitate the realisation of the tourism potential of the crossborder region and to increase tourism within the area by creating “Baltic Amber Coast” – a tourism product. The product is based on what is common to all partners to the project, namely amber (history, culture, recreation, medicine) and water – coastal location on the Baltic Sea.

The new tourism product is to prompt the development of the area of the partners’ cooperation. We would like to attract more tourists and we hope that this new product will help to build a positive image of Sztutowo, Stegna, Ustka, Krynica Morska and Yantarny. This publication and the project’s website contain all the information about the new infrastructure created in Sztutowo, Krynica Morska and Yantarny, about basic and additional services, events, places of interest, and attractions provided by the partners participating in this project.

To commence the activities connected with the creation of the new tourism product, we needed a strong foundation in the form of a strong partnership. Building such partnership was our main objective, as we believed that thanks to the strong partnership and close cooperation we would create a good, professional tourism product. We started with the assumption that in this case cooperation is better than competition. The result of this cooperation is “Baltic Amber Coast” product, which presents the wide variety of recreational and leisure activities in the five locations.

A vital element of those mutual undertakings was the implementation of investments in touristic infrastructure. That is why we can proud ourselves on the erection of marina on the Wisla Krolewiecka in Sztutowo, commencing the subsequent phase of the modernisation of the yacht marina in Krynica Morska and the construction of the seaside promenade in Yantarny.

The Gmina of Sztutowo is responsible for the overall execution of the project, which involves, among others, co-operating with the external consultant who manages the project and also arranging for the audit to be carried out by an external specialist. Moreover, the gmina implements the project of modernisation and development of the marina on the Wisla Krolewiecka river in Sztutowo. The gmina of the Town of Krynica Morska, having thorough experience in preparing plans of marketing development of the Baltic ports, was entrusted with organising the inaugurating conference. The gmina also carries out the modernisation of the yacht marina in Krynica Morska.

The gmina of the Town of Ustka organised project workshops and regatta accompanied by an outdoor event. The gmina of Stegna organised the project workshops. Its representatives of take part in all meetings, workshops and conferences related to the project. Yantarny built a seaside promenade and organised workshops for the project partners. There are still a few events to be held – further workshops in Yantarny, a regatta and a conference to end the project.

All partners, through their representatives taking part in the project activities, joined their forces to work on the complex tourism product – “Baltic Amber Coast”.
